Kyōko Koizumi
Kyōko Koizumi (小泉 今日子, Koizumi Kyōko?) (b. February 4, 1966 in Atsugi, Kanagawa) is a Japanese singer and actress. Her music is released through Victor Entertainment . She is also known by the nickname Kyon Kyon. She had singles reach the Top ten for 12 consecutive years between 1983 and 1994, a female solo artist record, until this was broken by Namie Amuro.[1] She married actor Nagase Masatoshi in 1995, and divorced in 2004. She has worked with well known anime music composer Yoko Kanno who composed the music for Koizumi's 21st album, Otoko no Ko Onna no Ko. In the 90's, she released a few dance remixes on vinyl only under the project name "Koizumix Production".
As an actress, she played in numerous dramas and movies; most notably, she was cast in two of the most successful movies in Japan ever: as the serial killer in "Bayside Shakedown aka Odoru Daisousasen: The Movie" (1998), and as the witch in "Onmyoji" (2001). In 2006 she starred as Eriko, the mother, in Toshiaki Toyoda's film Hanging Garden.
Koizumi was given the Best Actress award at the 1989 Yokohama Film Festival for her work in the film Kaitō Ruby.[2] She also won the award for best actress at the 26th Hochi Film Awards for Kaza Hana.[3]
